happy winter everyone

That is, everyone in the north. You folks in the south (the real south) are just starting summer. I do not bite my thumb at you, but I do bite my thumb...

Anyhow, up here in the Great White North things are, well, white. Lots of snow. Sadly, it is starting to melt like crazy as the United States is sending us their weather which is arriving here in the form of rain, rain, and more rain. It is unseasonably hot outside. All the way up to just above freezing. As an added bonus, we are supposed to be getting a freezing rain storm starting later this afternoon which ought to dump 20-30mm of ice all over the place.

Really? Who needs that?!?

Seems like the cat has the right idea.

Cheers and stay safe out there today.

We are either going to be cuddled up under blankets, or playing Dungeons and Dragons with the kids. Bliss it is winter!

never let me down

Yes, a title to a very good Depeche Mode song, but also yes, what the cat must have been saying to his sense of agility earlier today - he was out exploring the backyard, yet never touched the ground once.

up he goes

Shot through glass - thing about this cat is that he likes to climb. Falling from here would be a bad idea - it is about 10m straight down. Why go up then? Squirrels...

magic glass

Of course, it isn't. It is physics.

However, the rendering of light through the 60mm f2.8 macro by Olympus for m4/3 cameras is positively marvelous.

Here is a tease. Time permitting, I will put this lens through its paces a bit over the next couple of days and post the results and my thoughts on the lens as a whole.

jungle cat

He likes to climb this one does. His route to our neighbour's balcony (they don't mind) is to start on the yard to our townhouse's right, climb up on the fence between the units via a shed and woodpile; leap from the fence top to the pergola in our yard and waltz around it to the other side; take a flying leap from there to the balcony above - we have a walk out basement and the balcony is off of our main floor living room; and from there, after sniffing the bean plants, make another flying leap onto the railing of our neighbour's balcony.

We should have named him Ezio...

the cat, on his way onwards and upwards
He is also able to safely reverse his route down to the ground.

Birds and squirrels had better look out.
